What better way to foster a lifelong love of French, than starting with what campers already enjoy?
With a little something for everyone, we’ve selected themes for each week of summer camp, so campers can start with what they already enjoy to build their French skills. Each theme has unique programming, and runs twice throughout the summer.
Our 2025 summer camp themes are:
June 30 - July 2-4 & July 28-Aug. 1
Witches, wizards & muggles – if you love the Wizarding World, these weeks are for you!
July 7-11 & August 5-8
Calling all future rock stars: live out your music dreams of stage stardom in our Rock Star themed weeks!
July 14-18 & August 11-15
Barbie can be anything, and in these camp weeks, Barbie’s Dream World will come to life!
July 21-25 & August 18-22
Gotta catch ’em all with Ash, Pikachu & the crew during our Pokemon Madness weeks!
We’ve got exciting themes, but how will your campers spend their day?
For each week and theme, Monday through Wednesday features awesome camp games and activities, all built with that week’s theme in mind. Each activity is designed to grow French proficiency and confidence, without feeling like school – it just feels like fun!
Using our Rock Star Boot Camp theme as an example, here is how your camper could spend their day:
9:00 – 9:30: Band Name Brainstorm and Rockstar Introductions
Campers form “bands” by coming up with creative names and introductions. Each camper picks their stage persona and shares fun facts about themselves.
9:30 – 10:00: Fun in the Environment, Eco-Friendly Tour Bus Design
Campers design a “rock star tour bus” using recycled materials, learning about sustainability and how rock stars can reduce their carbon footprint on the road.
10:00 – 10:50: Writing Rockstar Lyrics in French
Campers write and perform their own song lyrics in French, focusing on vocabulary related to music and the arts.
10:50 – 11:15 AM: Recess Break & Optional Activity: Rockstar Jam Session
Campers play outdoor rhythm games, practice air guitar moves, or simply enjoy free play to recharge.
11:15 – 12:05: Rockstar Olympics
Campers participate in high-energy team activities like microphone relay races, air guitar showdowns, and rhythm-based challenges.
12:05 – 1:00: Lunch Break and Optional Activity: Backstage Lounge
Campers relax in their “backstage lounge” area while sharing their dream concert venues and favourite foods a rock star might have on tour.
1:00 – 1:50: Rock Star Gear Creation
Campers design their own rock star accessories, like colourful bandanas, sparkly wristbands, or custom microphones using craft supplies.
1:50 – 2:40: Band Poster Design
Campers create a poster to promote their band’s upcoming concert, incorporating bold colours, unique logos, and catchy slogans.
2:40 – 3:00: Recess Break & Optional Activity: Free-Style Rockstar Moves
Campers practice freestyle dance moves or create fun, on-stage routines with their friends during this active break.
3:00 – 3:50: Grand Jeu (Big Game), Rock Star Battle of the Bands
Each band performs their song (or air guitar routine) in a fun, supportive setting. Judges (counsellors) award points for creativity, energy, and teamwork.
3:50 – 4:00: Daily Wrap-Up Activity, Encore and Rock Star Highlights
Campers share their favourite moments of the day, and bands earn stars for their performances to go toward the “Rock Star of the Week” title.
On Thursday each week, we get wet and wild! Campers will bus a short distance to a nearby splash pad for a day of water fun. We bring water blasters, good old fashioned buckets, pool noodles, and make our own water slides. Always a favourite, there’s nothing like some water fun at camp!
Campers can participate in fun water games such as duck-duck-splash, water balloon toss, splash tag and more, with plenty of time for free play, allowing campers to explore the splash pad and make their own watery adventures. Campers will also receive their free Camp Tournesol t-shirts at the splash pad, which they will wear for the day for safety and easy identification.
Friday is Festival Day, an exciting celebration of the week’s adventures, achievements, and fun! The day kicks off with campers donning their favourite costumes related to the week’s theme, with face painting available for campers to transform into their favourite characters, creatures, or designs!
Festival Day is filled with joy and camaraderie as campers participate in themed games, enjoy lots of freezies, and cheer each other on during prize presentations. Prizes will recognize everything from creative costumes and teamwork to individual achievements throughout the week, ensuring every camper feels celebrated and included. The activities are designed to be both fun and reflective of the week’s theme, bringing together all the skills and knowledge campers have gained.
The highlight of the day is the End-of-Week Show, where parents are invited to arrive one hour early to join in the festivities. Campers will proudly showcase what they’ve learned throughout the week in an engaging performance that uses their French skills. From songs and skits to creative presentations, the show allows campers to shine and share their growth with family and friends. Festival Day is the perfect conclusion to an incredible week, leaving campers, parents, and staff with cherished memories and a sense of accomplishment.
