The Stream That's Ideal for Your Camper

At Camp Tournesol, we work to nurture a lifelong love of French, no matter where you camper is in their French language journey! You have the option to register your camper in one of three streams, depending on their age and current French background:

French Foundations

(4-12 years)

Is your camper not in a French immersion program and/or you don’t speak French at home, but you still want them to build vocabulary and skills? Foundations is for them!

French Mastery

(4-12 years)

If your camper is in a French immersion program or you speak French at home, and you’d like them to build fluency and proficiency, our Mastery stream is the perfect choice.

Counsellor-in-Training

(Entering Gr. 7, 8, 9 or 10)

Older campers seeking French fluency while developing leadership skills in a fun and supportive environment will love our Counsellor-in-Training (CIT) program. Read more

Mississauga Summer Camp FAQs

How many spots are left for the week(s) I'm looking at?

To see if the site and week you’re interested in has availability, login or create an account, and select your location.

All locations except those noted as “Waitlist” have availability, and you will be able to register your camper(s). If your week has a waitlist, you will have the option to add your camper to the waitlist and/or purchase other weeks if you’d like. If and when a spot becomes available, we will contact you to let you know. Waitlists are of course first come, first served.

We are confirming air conditioning details for this location, and as soon as we hear, we will post the update here.

Typically, our counsellor to camper ratio is 1:7. In other words, there is 1 counsellor for every 7 campers.

The majority of our counsellors are university and college students (some secondary school students are hired each year, as well). We also employ teachers who want to create an impact in the summer months, as well as students and graduates of teachers colleges across Ontario. A recent Vulnerable Sector Police Check is mandatory for all counsellors. There will be at least one counsellor present at each camp location with their First Aid certification at all times. Of course, all of our counsellors are fluent in French.

Our Counsellor-in-Training stream spots are limited to 4 per week.

Our French Foundations and French Mastery stream spots are not limited, we allow registration for each on a first come basis, up until the total capacity for that location and week is reached. We find this almost always results in a good mix of proficiency levels, resulting in all campers building on their French knowledge.
